Evil Parents

Bec started this conversation a while ago and it’s been hovering around in my hindbrain. I’m reading the second book in the House of the Night series (which is nicely atmospheric series) at the moment and I’m struck by how dysfunctional most of the relationships between the teen fledgling vampires and their parents are. I guess normal, supportive family relationships make for boring reading. But every now and then it would be nice to think we can build YA stories around other premises.

The parent/teenager relationship is so fascinating and dynamic that we should be able to tackle some of the more interesting aspects of it without having to resort too … my parents are evil.
